Oyo First Lady distributes gift items to orphanage homes 

The wife of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde has called on the citizens and well-meaning people in the state to always give back to society to rescue the less privileged from this hard time.

Mrs. Makinde through the Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaja Faosat Joke Sanni made this call today while visiting some selected orphanage homes in the State during the 2023 love intervention by Her Excellency, Engr. (Mrs.) Tamunominini Makinde.

According to her, it is a good thing to give back to society because the dividend of democracy is to give back to the people, especially the needy and less privileged, and “this is what the office of the First Lady demonstrated today by reaching out and visiting some selected orphanage homes in Oyo State”.

Mrs. Makinde said giving back to the people, especially the orphanage home is to appreciate them for devoting their time, energy, and resources to make sure the less privileged particularly the orphans among us are well taken care of.

She opined that this charity courtesy visit to some selected homes in the State is not her first time but she has been doing it twice a year for the past four years and promised this gesture will surely continue in the second term of Omituntun 2.0.

Mrs. Makinde, therefore, stressed that orphanage homes are the support system for the Government of Oyo State as the government cannot do it alone, stressing that all their activities are yearning towards the advancement of the State.

In her remarks, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola charged all the orphanage homes to take good care of the orphans and indigents in their domain.

Alhaja Olayiwola also said caregivers should always continue to teach the orphans the way of God and ensure that they all have qualitative education so that they too will become great in the nearest future.

In their response, the Matron, living word mission children home also known as la-vie-mot global mission, Mrs. Abimbola Williams, and the Coordinator, Oluwakemi orphanage home and foster foundation, Mrs. Victoria Adeleke commended the Oyo State Government and Office of the First Lady, Engr. Mrs. Makinde for the hands of gesture shown to their orphanage homes in this hard time.

They said all the gift items brought to the homes will go a long way in solving the problems that they have and these gift items will be used effectively and judiciously.

The gift items brought to the orphanage homes were food items, toiletries, and cash. Also, some of the selected orphanage homes visited are Joyous heart children orphanage, Jesus Kids Home for special people, The care people foundation motherless babies home, Iranlowo oluwa children’s Home, Oluwakemi orphanage home and foster foundation, Living word mission is also known as La-vie-mot global mission, Rehabilitation centre for the Disabled, Juvenile correctional institution and child care unit, Rosarian voice community – a child welfare movement, and Sola olagunju foundation and orphanage home.

Some of the dignitaries who visited the homes were the Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaja Faosat Joke Sanni, Commissioner for Women Affairs & Social Inclusion, Alhaja Omolabake Kafilat Olayiwola, Representative of Local Government Chairmen’s Wives Forum, Directors from the Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Inclusion, and Omituntun groups among others.
