VIDEO: Excitement as ‘Seyi Lekansi’ Group breaks Ramadan fast with Grand patron, Bayo Lawal

A political pressure group for Makinde’s re-election, ‘Seyi-Lekansi’, on Sunday converged at the Bashorun residence of Oyo Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, to celebrate his birthday anniversary and share Iftar with him.

Since the start of Ramadan, Lawal, the group’s grand patron, has been hosting various Muslim groups and Islamic clerics, as well as regular individuals, to iftar.

The deputy governor expressed his sincere gratitude to ‘Seyi-Lekansi’ for coming out in such big numbers to break fast with him and for their gift presentation while speaking to the group led by its patron, Mr. Kayode Makinde, shortly after observing Solatul-Magrib with them at his home.

Lawal, who expressed his gratitude to Allah for giving him and Governor Makinde the opportunity to triumph overwhelmingly despite several mischiefs and blackmails, said that the only song left for him to sing is praise.

He said: “As a Muslim, I believe that prayer is our sword. And during the electioneering period, we were able to pray and rely alone on prayer and our performances, and we thank God that he didn’t disappoint us.

“We can’t but to continue thanking Almighty Allah. So, I am very much grateful to Seyi Lekansi group”.

Lawal recalled that the group’s patron, Mr Kayode Makinde, approached him at Housing Corporation approximately one and a half years ago to promote Makinde’s re-election even though he wasn’t even the running mate to Governor Makinde, let alone Deputy Governor.

He added that he will keep thanking Allah and to Governor Makinde for making him Acting Governor which is first of its kind in Oyo state. He also expressed his gratitude for the group’s support of him and the governor during the campaign.

While noting that the group has become a movement and will thus continue like that, Lawal further assured that the Omitutun 2.0’ would be much better than the previous one as well as praying that everyone would benefit from the Omitutun 1.0 before it lapse.

He commended Governor Makinde for leading the campaign rally for about three months across the state without any disasters, even at night, and emphasized that the campaigns’s outcome resulted into overwhelming victory which is an indication that people really love Makinde.

“I therefore pray that God would continue to lead His Excellency and grant him the knowledge and wisdom he needs to steer the affairs of the state.

“Once again, I am happy for your visit. I know Ramadan is a month of cleansing. I pray God will accept our fasting as an act of Ibadah.”

The deputy governor also appreciated PAG and other Islamic clerics for standing by him during the thin and thick of the campaign, particularly when opposition members were playing religious card. He prayed God will reward them abundantly.

“I am a true Muslim. I believe in the oneness of God. And I will continue to serve Allah”, he declared.

Earlier in his remarks, the group’s patron, Mr Kayode Makinde, congratulated Bayo Lawal and his wife for the March 18th governorship election that got Makinde re-elected with a landslide victory. He also felicitated with the deputy governor on the occasion of his birthday anniversary.

He noted that their visit is very crucial as it is the first Ramadan Fasting to be celebrated with Bayo Lawal as the sitting deputy governor of Oyo state.

He equally expressed his delight about the re-election of Governor Makinde as well as appreciating the people of Oyo state for their support in re-electing the governor.
