PHOTOS: Ladoke Akintola Building donated to LAUTECH 

The massive house belonging to the late premier of defunct Western Region Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola has been donated to the Oyo state university named after him – Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.

This is an highlight of the 15th convocation ceremonies of the institution which is being rounded off today with awards of degrees to postgraduate students and award of honorary doctorate degrees.

Disclosing the development Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the university Professor Ayodeji Oludare Omole in his speech at the programme being held at the The Great Hall of the institution, said:

“I wish to bring to the attention of the university community and our guests that Council at its last meeting was glad to receive a report on the decision of the family of the former Premier ok f the Western Region, Chief S.L. Akintola, who this university is named after, to donate for the use of the university their house at Oke-Ado, in Ogbomoso.

“Council not only approved that the house be renovated and be put to use by the university management buy also directed that the family should be appreciated. Council not only appreciates the good gesture of the family but remain eternally grateful to them.”

The revelation drew a loud applause from the audience.

MOUTHPIECE NGR understands that the abandoned house has been taken over by weeds and refuse which had accumulated in the front of the building.

This was because Ambassador Yomi Akintola scion of the the SL Akintola dynasty who used the building as base of his highly successful political adventures had stopped coming home due to old age related illnesses.
