Oyo Deputy Gov hosts Omo Ajorosun Club of Ibadan, Oluwonla Muslim Community to Iftar 

The Oyo Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal has said Ramadan is a time for spiritual renewal that calls for serious thought and a stronger relationship with Allah. 

Lawal stated this on Friday when he hosted Omo Ajerosun club of Ibadan, Oluwonla Muslim Community and other Muslim faithfuls to Iftar. 

He remarked that Governor Makinde’s administration will continue to advance religious harmony and urged Muslims to pray for the current administration throughout the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Majesty night, known as “Laylatul Quadri.” 

The deputy governor, who claimed to have lived in Ibadan for more than 45 years, noted that Makinde’s resounding victory in the recently held March 18 election was a wake-up call that no one should be judged by his or her ethnicity or religion, but rather by what they can accomplish for their state. 

He used the occasion on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde to thank Omo Ajorosun club of Ibadan and the people of the state for their support and understanding, assuring that their administration would not betray the confidence reposed in them.

According to him, Makinde’s administration remained resolute and determined on sustainable development that would promote economic growth and progress of the state which is Omituntun 2.0.

He thanked them for also commending Makinde’s administration for its light up initiative, among others, and said that the current administration is very focused on social benefits and making life easy for Oyo state’s residents. 

Expressing their gratitude for the warmth reception and delectable Iftar feast, the President of Ajorosun, Alhj Abiola Alli described Bayo Lawal as a pious and understanding muslim who accommodate everyone. 

He said: “God has given Bayo Lawal wisdom and knows how to accommodate people and equally share love with everyone. 

“We are delighted to have come to break fast with you and and we also love being with you because you are so accommodating.”

The President, who disclosed that they were so delighted when Bayo Lawal was picked as Makinde’s running mate, added that they have no regret supporting Makinde’s led administration for his re-election and prayed that God will continue to guide him. 

He emphasized that they don’t often pay individuals courtesy calls except those who hold the same opinions as them and those they hold in high regard, adding that Bayo Lawal’s demeanor is so admirable that they would visit him. 

Ali wished Bayo Lawal and his principal a successful tenure in office whilst pledging the support of the club for Governor Makinde who they referred to as the Grand patron of the club. 

He further stated that Makinde is a good leader who has been serving the public interest since taking office across all sectors, adding that they are very proud of him. 

He pointed out that the governor also had a significant impact during the Covid-19 pandemic with his decision to spare the state’s residents, and despite that, there were no serious casualties in the state at the time. 

He praised the governor for his network of roads and the Light Up Oyo State initiative, both of which have significantly lowered crime rates in the state, and he prayed that God would continue to be with them.

“We are a diverse group of professionals who formed our club in 1980 with the goal of, among other things, ensuring the development of Ibadanland, giving needy residents of Ibadan scholarships, and supporting the government’s development initiatives. 

“We are also doing radio programs to also show case our own support for the development of Ibadan land. And we are happy with what the Makinde’s administration is doing for the development of the state. 

“Recently we also distributed wheel chairs, bed matras and pillows, to also support government and in-fact, last year, we facilitated health care treatment which benefited average Ibadan indigenes. 

“On this note, we appeal to you to do whatever you’ve promised the people of the state and we have no regret supporting Makinde’s administration.”

“Finally, we need to appreciate the efforts of Chief Mrs Ajibola Lawal for her support on her husband and how she has been able to take good care of us. 

“We pray God will make her to reap the fruit of her labors and endeavors. 

“Once again, thank you very much Sir/Ma.

However, in his submission, Hon. Lukman Abayomi Olajide, popularly known as Royal Umbrella, who also appreciated the visit of the Ajorosun club, said that God has really kept the deputy Governor long ago for the progress of the Makinde’s administration. 

He added that the Ajorosun Club of Ibadan have all sincerely described the good virtue of Bayo Lawal which is what everyone is talking about every time. 

The high point of the event was also distribution of milks, Bournvita, Sugars among others to commemorate the period of Ramadan. 

At the Iftar include immediate past president Alh Ismail Bioku; Social secretary, Mogaji Moshood Akere PRO Dr Ibraheem Lawal. 

Others were Alh Salahudeen Kamorudeen, Dr Omotajo(welfare secretary), Mr Shina Wojuade Asst Sect, Alh Mutiu Ogunmola (Gen Sec) and Alade Olusoji Olusegun SOJ Aspirants constituency 1 Ibadan North.
