Birthday celebration calls for gratitude to God, says Oyo Deputy Gov

The deputy governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal has stated that the celebration of birthday calls for gratitude to God and sober reflection.

Lawal, who made the disclosure on Friday when top government functionaries visited his Bashorun home to felicitate with him on the occasion of his birthday anniversary, noted that he preferred a solemn celebration.

According to him, I am not the the type that really love celebrating my birthday because I am no longer getting younger. I am growing older and this calls for a sober reflection. “So, it’s not in my dictionary.”

He said: “Just like I have a grandchildren and children who love to celebrate loudly, but I love to keep my own celebration low and because of that was the reason why I had stayed away from the office today. So, I would rather love to celebrate my birthday with Juma’t service and Ramadan lecture.

“I must reiterate how much I appreciate you coming around. And I’ll never stop giving thanks to God for the gift of health he has given me because I always feel well and hale after a 20 to 30-minute sleep.

The deputy governor, who was in company of his beautiful wife, Chief (Mrs) Ajibola Lawal, stressed that Omitutun 2.0 will involve a lot of work and challenges while directing both the appointees and public servants specifically associated with the governor’s office to get prepared.

He tasked them to get ready for the administration to succeed particularly their principal, Governor Oluwaseyi Makinde.

He noted that God has specially created Governor Makinde as a leader that everyone want to emulate, adding that his cabinet is united and would be activated in the upcoming Omituntun 2.0.

He prayed to God for long life and prosperity to enjoy the fruit of his labor.

Workers from his office, including political appointees, as well as other well-wishers had earlier gathered to his home to also congratulate him.

They prayed to Allah for a long life and health so he could reap the rewards of his labor. They also prayed to Allah to keep the smooth relationship between him and his principal strong.

Alhaja Fausat, the commissioner for special duties, Coordinating Director Housing Corporation, Director of Finance, PS Cabinet, Mr. Wale Ajani, Mr Lawal, the chairman of the civil service commission, Elder Adekola, the chairman of OYSROMA, and SA Youth and Sports were among the noteworthy visitors.
