OPU in Diaspora Declares Support for Makinde’s Re-Election

The re-election bid of the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for a second term in office has further received another boost as members of Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) in the Diaspora have declared their support for his aspiration.

The group’s position was made known when its representatives from the Diaspora led by its USA Coordinator, Chief Alice Eniola Yeyeluwa Oto Awori kingdom, Lagos State and its spokesperson, Chief Victor Omobolaji, the Akingbayi Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland paid a courtesy visit on the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige in his office recently.

The spokesperson of the group, Chief Victor Omobolaji said members of OPU in the Diaspora took the decision to throw their weight behind governor Makinde’s second term because of his unprecedented performances in every sector in his first term in office.

He added that the group was convinced beyond doubt that if Governor Makinde is giving an opportunity to continue in office, it will be in the interest of the entire citizens because they will enjoy more good governance which Governor Makinde represents.

Chief Omobolaji who disclosed that they were in Nigeria for the celebration of annual OPU convention slated for Wednesday 24th and Saturday 26th this month in Badagry, Lagos, enjoined the people of Oyo State to turn out enmass to cast their votes for Engr. Makinde on the 11th March, 2023.

Responding, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige thanked them for the visit and for their support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s continuity in office, stressing that the Governor will not renege in fulfilling all his electioneering campaign promises even after winning his second term in office.
