PHOTOS: Oyo Deputy Gov inspects Jenbewo/Sabo road, meets Seriki over rehabilitation

The deputy governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdul-raheem Adebayo Lawal, visited the Jenbewo/Sabo road in Ibadan, which is being repaired by the Oyo Roads Maintenance Agency, OYSROMA, on Saturday as part of the efforts of Makinde’s led administration to ensure there are no potholes and accessible roads. 

Lawal trekked a considerable distance in the blazing sun with the chairman of the agency, Hon. Busoye Ogunlade, and other agency staff to inspect the ongoing rehabilitation of the Jenbewo/Sabo, including the installation of drainage systems. 

The deputy Governor then made his way to Seriki Ibadan’s palace to discuss the government’s rehabilitation strategy.

He hinted that parts of the Hausa-dominated routes would also be distilled, and that the Onisuya junction to the very end of the road would also receive rehabilitation. 

“My visit here today is unplanned,” he said, “since I’ve come here to inspect some roads for repair and I thought it rightly to visit the palace for you people to know what we’re doing here.” 

“I promised you when you came to pay me a courtesy call on my appointment that we would rehabilitate the roads from Onisuya down to the very end as well as on other roads. The OYSROMA chairman is also here, so I want to know where else you want us to focus our efforts.”

The Seriki Ibadan of Sabo expressed their gratitude for the unexpected visit and stated that the road around hospital garage should also be fixed because they have observed that this government is already making the necessary improvements to major roads about which they had previously voiced their concerns.

He commended the deputy governor for his thoughtfulness with his visit and pledged that they would re-elect Governor Seyi Makinde in the forthcoming 2023 general election.
