BREAKING: Bayo Lawal, other 35 Deputy Govs attend NBC workshop in Abuja

Barr. Adebayo Abdul-raheem Lawal, the deputy governor of Oyo State, is currently participating in a one-day workshop being held by the National Boundary Commission-NBC in Aso Rock, Abuja. 

Lawal joined other 35 deputy governors in Nigeria who also serve as chairmen of state boundary committees to attend the National workshop for the establishment of a National Consultative Forum of chairmen of state boundaries and border management agencies of the federal government. 

MOUTHPIECE NGR understands that the purpose of the training is to help all parties involved in boundary disputes comprehend the Act creating the NBC and their responsibilities in ensuring good boundary management.

The NBC was established under CAP 238 of 1990 and is responsible for managing internal boundaries among states and external borders between Nigeria and other countries. It is also responsible for preventing the inflow of contraband and illegal materials into the country. 

The workshop, themed “Converting Borders From Barriers of Separation toBridges of Co-operation and Regional Integration” has in attendance the Director General National Boundary Comm.Surv.Adamu Adaji, Executive Secretary,Border Communities Development Agency, Captain Junaid Abdullahi and Comptroller General,Nigeria Immigration Service,Idris Gere.

Other personalities addressing the workshop include the national security adviser Major-Gen.Babagana Monguno,the Comptoller-Gen.of Customs,Col Hamid Alli(rtd)and the Inspector-Gen. of Police,Alkali Baba Usman.
