2023: Era of rigging is gone – INEC

Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it has tamed election rigging in the country through the Electoral Act 2022 signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The INEC said that ahead of the 2023 general elections, with the signing of the Electoral Act 2022, the use of the Bimodal Voter Registration System (BVAS) and other strict measures launched by the commission, no Nigerians will be able to vote twice in each of the 2023 general elections.
With confidence in the strength of the Electoral Act, the commission expressed optimism that the 2023 general elections would be free, fair and credible.

This was made known by the National Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, at a breakfast seminar organised by Christian Men’s Fellowship at St. James’ Anglican Church, Asokoro, Abuja.
