VIDEO: Major boost for Makinde as Bayo Lawal harvests ADP stakeholders in Oke-Ogun

The re-election campaign of Governor Seyi Makinde received a huge boost on Sunday when prominent ADP members from around Oke-Ogun paid Barrister Adebayo Abdul-Raheem Lawal a courtesy call to lend their support just six months before the general election of 2023.

In the afternoon, the stakeholders paid a visit to his residence in Ibadan and revealed that they had told the thronging people at their previous meeting to support Governor Makinde and secure his win as well as that of other PDP candidates in the next general elections.

Reiterating their unwavering support for the governor’s effective leadership of Oyo State, particularly his advancements in Oke-Ogun, they swore to never compromise their allegiance to the party and that they would all turn out in large numbers to cast PDP votes and help canvass votes for the party.

One of the decampees said, “We are extremely happy that you are part of the administration and have been chosen as the governor’s running mate. Please make sure that people who were wronged throughout the coalition process after his election victory will be made whole.”

The women’s leader of Akala, the Iyalaje from Oke Ogun, stated that they abandoned the party under Akala’s rule due to dishonesty and rudeness, but noe that Barrister Bayo Lawal is on board, they have nothing to worry.

She urged the governor and his deputy to nominate both young and old to appropriate posts and to include women in the upcoming administration.

Another stakeholder group claimed that their return to the PDP was motivated by the Oke-Ogun agenda and the knowledge of Bayo Lawal’s track record as a dependable leader who would safeguard their interests.

Additionally, he noted that since PDP election in 2019, Governor Seyi Makinde has yet to visit any local governments.

He pleaded with the deputy governor to inform the governor so that the necessary adjustments can be made before the election.

In his address, the deputy governor, Bayo Lawal expressed appreciation to the defectors notably Baba Alaraje who has been meeting with unhappy members and enabling their meeting with him.

He let the party members know that he will meet with the governor today to make sure that their concerns were addressed and that they were properly represented.

Bayo Lawal, who was in company of State Honorable from  Atisbo/Shaki East, Hon. Rilwan Wale Canada, further suggested that the governor has been making every effort to ensure that everyone is catered to, from the level of local government to the level of wards.

Then he asked the defectors to work for the success of the party and ensure that it receives a sizable number of votes in the coming general elections.

“I have never seen a governor before that have paid serious attention to Oke-Ogun before like Governor Seyi since I have joined politics.”

“The Oke Ogun zone must unite to ensure that the Seyi Makinde/Bayo Lawal ticket is successful in 2023. The state’s current administration has launched numerous praiseworthy development projects in the area.”
