In an extraordinary demonstration of affection for Oyo Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, friends and notable stakeholders in Oke-Ogun zone including members of Peoples Democratic Party came out in their thousands on Thursday to receive him as he arrived his hometown, to a rousing welcome.

At the Kishi entry gate, his arrival was met with raucous celebration as part of an emotional welcome-home ceremony organized by his family, friends, and party members.

Since word spread that Bayo Lawal would get a civic reception on Saturday following his nomination as the deputy governor of Oyo state, the entire Oke-Ogun region, and especially the Irepo Local Government Kishi, has been electrified. But when he arrived in the town today at around 7 o’clock in a convoy, the populace went into a frenzy.

The kinsmen and associates of the Aare Bamofin of Kishi country chanted and danced as they made their way from the entrance gate, where they had been waiting for him, to the palace of Iba Kishi of Kishi land, filling the town with joy.

As the procession reached the palatial compound with different chorus such as “Ile Agbo Lokan,” “Baba Oyoyo”, Daddy Welcome”, “Ogo Ilu Kishi”, ”SeyiTiBayo De”, the throng, which included old, young, bike men, and youth, burst into a loud and protracted session of praise songs and prayers.

There was presence of PDP members in all the reception for Lawal, who had long been waiting to see him after his appointment as deputy governor of Oyo state.

A PDP supporter from Oke-Ogun told MOUTHPIECE NGR, “We are thrilled that our leader and father is in town, and the enthusiasm that has been shown today demonstrate that we have long been anticipating his coming.

“To us, today marks the start of a lot of wonderful things to come, and we are incredibly appreciative to governor Seyi Makinde for the chance he gave us in Irepo Local Government,”
