Peter Obi reacts to ASUU strike, tells Buhari’s govt how to end strike

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has suggested solution to the Federal Government on how to end the lingering industrial action embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The former governor of Anambra state said the Federal Government should engage ASUU in collaborative negotiations to end the lingering strike.

The LP presidential candidate has described the prolonged industrial action as unacceptable.

The former Anambra State governor, has via a series of tweets, lamented that the strike which began on February 14, 2022, has become almost intractable to the disadvantage of Nigerian students.

Obi tweeted: “Our position is that the ASUU strike has lingered for far too long. It is unconscionable, worrisome, and unacceptable that FGN would allow such an industrial action to become almost intractable to the detriment of our students.

“It’s time for FGN to engage in collaborative negotiations with ASUU, and in good faith.”

This is coming at a time ASUU extended its six-month-old strike indefinitely.

ASUU had taken the decision during its latest National Executive Council, NEC, meeting in Abuja.
