Christian youth join muslims to clear grass at Kaduna mosque, say we’re one

Some Christians in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State have assisted and joined Muslims in clearing grass at a mosque.

The religious service was done in preparation for Eid prayer during Sallah.

Mr. Daniel Bitrus, who led the team of volunteers to join Muslims counterparts in the selfless service, said they carried out the exercise to promote religious oneness and harmony.

The Christians have joined Muslims to clear the grass and get rid of dirt in the surrounding of the mosque.

The leader of the team said the selfless exercise took them two days.

“We came here to support our brothers towards cutting down the grass and to also clear the dirt in the mosque and its surrounding, with the aim of promoting peace and unity,” he said.

“The exercise, which lasted for two days (Saturday and Sunday), enabled many Christians and Muslims to dialogue, exchange hand of friendship and talk on better ways to promote religious tolerance and better understanding among the adherents of the two religions.

“We hope to continue doing this every year to promote religious tolerance in the area.”

Mallam Ibrahim Tasiu, the Secretary, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Kachia local government chapter, has expressed his happiness over the impressive turnout of Christians during the selfless service.

He confessed that the Christian youths arrived the Eid ground for the selfless service before Muslims got there.

While commending the exercise, the secretary said this was first of its kind in southern Kaduna, which has been notorious for ethno-religious crisis.

Ibrahim has called on Muslims and Christians to live peacefully and harmoniously.
