Sultan announces July 9 Eid al-Adha

Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, Wednesday, announced July 9 as Eid al-Adha.

MOUTHPIECE NGR observes that during Eid al-Adha, majority of Muslims will attend the special prayers held at different major mosques and Islamic centers all over the world.

It features the slaughtering of ram during the period known as the “festival of sacrifice”.

The National Moonsighting Committee, has on behalf of the Sultan, implored Muslims to continue to pray during the period.

It has also announced Thursday, June 30, as the first day of Dhul Hijjah.

“Eidul Adha will be on Saturday, 10th Zul-Hijjah 1443H (9th July 2022) In Sha Allah,” the statement read in part.
