Rivers APC delegates die after presidential primary
Two Rivers State delegates who participated in the just concluded presidential primary election of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have lost their lives shortly after the presidential primary election.
The two delegates identified as Onimiteim Vincent and Barrister Prince Loveday Motats lost their lives in an auto crash.
They lost their lives on their return to Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Wednesday.
Their car (Sienna) had reportedly collided with another vehicle.
One of the victims lost his life on the spot, while the other hospitalized, and later died in an unknown hospital.
The APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Pastor Tonye Cole, has confirmed the tragedy.
He said the deceased delegates were loyalists of the party in Rivers.
“We lost these gems in an accident heading back from the presidential primaries, in yet another painful sacrifice for a democratic nation. My heart and prayers are with their families and loved ones at this difficult time.
“While we mourn, we must not despair, instead we will celebrate the lives of these fallen patriots, and carry on their legacies of loyalty, diligence and honor. They have not fallen in vain and the impact they made serving this Nation through APC in Rivers State will not be forgotten,” Cole stated.
Recall that the immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who is the presidential aspirant from the state, came second in the presidential primary election.
The presidential primary election was won by the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
