Police set to probe shooting by Burna Boy’s escorts at Lagos club

The Nigeria Police Force has directed the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Abiodun Alabi, to commence investigation on the alleged shooting of two persons by five police escorts linked with the Nigerian musician, Damini Ogulu, professionally addressed as Burna Boy.

The incident happened on June 8, 2022, at Club Cubana in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The spokesperson of the Force Headquarters, Muyiwa Adejobi, via a tweet, yesterday, revealed that the escorts are already arrested and in detention for the misconduct.

MOUTHPIECE NGR recalls that the police escorts reportedly shot two persons, Irebami Lawrence and one Tolu.

The spokesperson via the tweet has revealed that the Force Headquaters has compelled the CP to send the report of the investigation for necessary action.

It was gathered that, on the day the incident happened, the music star and five police escorts attached to him proceeded to the club at about 4am.

On reaching the club, four of the escorts stood at the entrance of the club house. The fifth escort who was in mufti, moved the musician to his VIP seat alongside three women.

The Nigerian singer reportedly sighted another woman whom he approached. The husband of the woman, who was also in the club, protested the musician’s advance towards his woman, telling the musician not to continue.

This had led to argument between the man’s friends and Burna Boy’s team, before two persons were allegedly shot, while the musician absconded the scene.

CSP Muyiwa Adejobi said: “We have commenced investigation into this matter. The policemen have been identified and arrested. They have been detained immediately after the incident.

“The IGP has ordered the CP Lagos, Abiodun Alabi, to conclude his investigation and forward report for necessary action.”
