Peter Obi picks Doyin Okupe as running mate

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has forwarded the name of Doyin Okupe to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as his vice presidential candidate.

The name of the former spokesperson to the former president Olusegun Obasanjo was forwarded, as part of the plan to beat the Friday June 17 deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to political parties.

The Director-General of Peter Obi Campaign will temporarily be the running mate and may be changed after the party stakeholders finally agree on a suitable vice presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

Recall that the Labour party had revealed that its Vice President will come from the North

Barr. Julius Abure, the Chairman of the party, had said although Peter Obi has the final say, ”the party’s choice of a Vice President will most likely come from the Northern region.”
