Buhari gives fresh directives to security agents on Abuja-Kaduna train attack

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that efforts toward securing the freedom of the kidnapped railway passengers who are still in custody, be increased, and the case should be brought to a close.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has via a statement revealed that the approval of the president has increased the efforts toward the rescue mission.

He said the president’s approval has birthed a two-lane approach, the kinetic and non-kinetic, and to ensure that the victims are released unhurt.

Shehu revealed that the bandits had requested for the release of their own children in the government’s custody and after the settlement of that issue, the bandits freed eleven of the victims, while more were expected.

He said the Government will not relent in its efforts to rescue all hostages.

He added that the security architecture and stakeholders have assured of intensified operational engagements meant to restore peace in all parts of the country.

He revealed that the federal government acknowledges the efforts of some well meaning Nigerians and institutions who are assisting in pursuing the freedom of the hostages.

”The President’s clear directive on the issue is that the hostages must be brought home alive. The country’s military and security agencies are aware of their duty to the nation and are determined to give effect to the President’s charge with increased urgency.
