LAUTECH students protest prolonged ASUU strike 

Students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso has staged a peaceful protest to express their sadness and disappointment over the ongoing strike action embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Mouthpiece NGR reports.

The protesting students in their large numbers, who appeared moody lamented their continued stay at home due to the lingering strike action and called on the government to meet ASUU’s demands to enable them to complete their academic programmes.

Our correspondent in Ogbomoso, Mutiu Adepoju, reported that police manned strategic locations around the institution’s main campus and road to ensure a peaceful protest by the students and prevent it from being hijacked by hoodlums.

President of the Students’ Union Government, Comrade Adeboye Anuoluwa, said the protest was staged to create awareness among stakeholders and public members over their sadness on the ASUU strike, adding that they are frustrated. 

In his submission, the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Azeem Ige appealed to the federal government to resolve the issues as soon as possible. 

He said an idle man is a devil workshop which apparently make the students to go on street to register their displeasure.
