CONGRESS: Oyo PDP blasts aggrieved members over failed attempt to malign GSM, Oyo REC name

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Oyo State Chapter, has lampooned some of its aggrieved members in the state over what it described as brazen boldness to continually engage in anti-party party activities with the aim of delibrately maligning and bringing to disrepute the hard earned reputation of Governor Seyi Makinde and the ruling party in Oyo state.

Oyo State PDP also berated the aggrieved party members over what it called failed attempt to deliberately malign the Oyo Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Barrister Mutiu Agboke who has continued to ignored what the party tagged as sheer political rascality.

The ruling party in Oyo State PDP made this disclosure in a press statement by it’s State Publicity Secretary, Engr Akeem Olatunji and made available to newsmen on Friday 1st of October, cautioning the aggrieved members against continuous show of what it described as macabre dance of shame.

The party wondered why the aggrieved members have deliberately disposed themselves negatively to the reconciliation drive by the leadership of the party at both State and National levels such as against the overall interest and good of the party.

The party noted that the various actions and inactions of the aggrieved members are very rebellious to every iota of objective reasoning saying that no right minded member of a family will want to project the family name in bad light to the world to curry undue public sympathy because of few family issues which are basically internal and should be addressed as a family.

It added that any member of the family who clearly shows him or herself as an outcast will be treated as such because family is everything and no member of the family will be allowed to bring down the hard earned reputation of the PDP family stressing that the party will strongly consider wielding the big stick and come hard on any element within the party engaging in such continuous show of brazen political rascality to serve as deterrent to others.

The ruling party in the state further warned the aggrieved members to desist forthwith with attempting to impersonate the political entity in the state stressing that PDP remains one and whoever is attempting to create another PDP elsewhere with unknown address with the aim of carrying out the legally recognized operations of the party will be seriously dealt with.

Speaking further, the Oyo State PDP described as uncharitable, maligning and political recklessness a press statement credited to the aggrieved party members who brazenly accused the state REC, Mutiu Agboke of collecting about N10 million from Governor Seyi Makinde prior to the party’s local government and ward congresses recently held stressing that actions and inactions of the aggrieved members do not in any way represent the party or position of the party in Oyo state.

It stated further that the world and indeed the people of Oyo state now see clearly what the grievances of the aggrieved members against Governor Seyi Makinde are all about adding that none of their allegations against Makinde is contrary to exceptional and sterling performance across all sectors which has birthed immediate repositioning of the state for economic prosperity  via people-centered policies and programs.

“It is always sad when you have to in the ultimate interest of public good come out to address certain family issues in public because of some rebellious and anti-party agents within our fold. It is even more sad that they would allow themselves in their macabre dance of shame to go as far as attempting to maligning an innocent, hardworking, and respected INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State just to discredit a very transparent and peaceful political exercise supervised by INEC.

The whole world already know them for who they are and what they represent therefore, we will not continue to in the spirit of peace pamper them in the face of brazen anti-party activities and using the name of the party to create another address unknown to law all in their desperate move to engage in political rascality capable of bringing the hard earned reputation of our performing Governor, our great party as well as maligning an innocent citizen without any proof whatsoever.

It is on record that our great party has continued to be opened for long to genuine reconciliation among all aggrieved members which has obviously been misinterpreted by those disgruntled elements as weakness of leadership.

These elements with knowledge of our party’s constitution should have known that their activities of late amounts to clear anti-party and could lead to sanctions.

There’s a very clear difference between pursuing a legitimate political course within the party and embarking on activities deliberately aimed at bringing the reputation of Governor Makinde who has been adjudged to be the best in the entire country in term of sterling performance as well as the goodwill and image of the party.

It should be on record that the  Leadership of the Party  at the State level ably led by the Chairman Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha and the State Secretary Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke and other Excos are solidly behind  His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde and would not hesitate to sanction the so called aggrieved persons accordingly if they fail to repent from their attempt to join our great party in their journey into political perdition. Oyo state PDP concludes.
