Gunmen kidnap student in Kwara, demand N50m ransom
Mouthpiece NGR reports unknown gunmen have kidnapped a 300 level Mass Communication student of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Khadijat Isiaq.
The student was whisked away on Sunday night in a vehicle while walking with a friend at about 9pm in one of the off-campus hostels.
University sources said the kidnappers had contacted the school and were demanding N50m ransom.
Confirming the incident, the university, in a statement by its public relations director, Abdulrazaq Sanni, said the student was abducted along Okoru Road in Malete town.
Sani said the school management has responded to the development and was working with the relevant security operatives to secure her release and ensure the culprits are brought to book.
