LAUTECH class 19 graduates appeal to Governor Makinde

Some Class-19 graduates of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, have solicited for the intervention of Governor Seyi Makinde over the issue of students regularization.

The affected students, in an open letter signed by its representative, Afolabi Isaac Aanuoluwapo claimed that the regularization is seriously affecting them despite spending close to 8years on campus.

According to the statement, “Our only crimes were either change of programme within the institution or gaining admission through the school Pre-Degree Science Programme”.

It said: “Currently, JAMB has a policy not to honor signatories by Ag. VC. The longer we have to wait the longer we will remain in griefs with our families. Many of us were sponsored with loans and overdrafts coupled with hunger. Our parents have worked through their noses. Come like a messiah and make things happen Sir.”

The letter, titled “Request for a Decree to Validate Students’ Regularization”, in which a copy was made available to Mouthpiece NGR on Friday night, indicated that the affected students have gained admission since 2014.

They are requesting for mobilization this year as they have stayed too long to be held down by regularization which according to them, could have been validated by the Academic Affairs in the Student Affairs Unit of the School.

The letter reads:

Dear Sir,

On behalf of my numerous colleagues and I whose only crimes were either change of Programme or gaining admission through Pre Degree program in our School, I write to solicit for your intervention as our Father and Visitor.

We do not want too much. All we request for is to be able to go for the Youth Service this year. We have stayed too long to be held down by mere regularization that could have been validated by the Academic Affairs in the Student Affairs Unit of the School. We gained admission into LAUTECH in the year 2014. We’re just graduating as a set in the year 2021. Our mates are on their ways to NYSC camps come this month ending.

Notwithstanding the fact that others who gained admission to other schools the same year with us are done with National Youth Service and are delivering to the Nation already.

Your Excellency Sir, 2019 was supposed to have been our graduating year. We wished you had come when we were just starting out. It would have been a different story entirely. But we have known the difference since you have come. You are our Governor and Father Sir. Our Fatherland is waiting for us. We have stayed long overdue. We could not proceed to NYSC data capturing because some data were not matching up. And these in our capacities as students, we have done everything right. We are not being heard or listened to. We do not know when to wait till. Our only crimes were either change of programme within the institution or gaining admission through the school Pre-Degree Science Programme.

Currently, JAMB has a policy not to honor signatories by Ag. VC. The longer we have to wait the longer we will remain in griefs with our families. Many of us were sponsored with loans and overdrafts coupled with hunger. Our parents have worked through their noses. Come like a messiah and make things happen Sir.

We are positive that you will support us in the best possible manner. We believe you can feel our pain. All we need is a quick work to be done on our issue to the effect that we will start seeing solutions arrive at our grieving hearts within seven days of your decrees Sir. Many of us graduating is like breakthrough. I mean to say that our family members depend us. I am positive that you understand more than I can ever write.

Thank you Sir.

Yours faithfully,

AFOLABI, Isaac Aanuoluwapo
