Ogbomoso South LG boss commissions boreholes at two communities

The caretaker Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi has handed over motorized boreholes water project to residents of Araada main Market and Lagbedu area of Ogbomoso South local government area, with a charge to residents to always ensure maintenance of public utility among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Oyedokun emphasized the importance of the project to the two communities, noting that water was one of the most important God-given natural resources that should be made available to everyone. 

He, however, reiterated his commitment and dedication to the improvement of the welfare of communities in the local government through the provisions of basic and social infrastructure.

Oyedokun who said that he has a lot in store for the people of the area apart from numerous developmental projects he has embarked on since he came on board, added that the project is indeed a tip of the ice berg.”

”I was surprised when I toured round all the wards when I came on board and saw that there was no borehole working in this market despite how they are exposed to heat generated from the fire used to produce garri.

” But today am happy that there is a new borehole drilled and commissioned by this administration. As we also know that there is recent outbreak of cholera, we will ensure that there is no single case of the epidemic in Ogbomoso South local government and one of the ways we can avert that is by providing clean and drinkable water.

Prior to the commissioning of the projects, Mouthpiece NGR gathered that the Council chief met with all stakeholders in the market and Lagbedu area, where he urged them to be law abiding, cultivate maintenance culture and ensure the borehole is well maintained noting that the LG will be responsible for all necessary repairs if there faults with the boreholes.

“Please see this project as your own, work in unity to maintain it so that when you need more, the government will not hesitate to come to your aid when there is need.

“Water has many benefits for humanity that its absence can cause health crisis, for us to preempt that, Engr Seyi Makinde led administration is poised to make water available throughout the nooks and crannies of the State,” said Oyedokun.

Similarly also, at Lagbedu area, where another borehole was commissioned, residents of the area were joyous noting that the last borehole they had in the area was an hand pump borehole which has cease working, adding that the other boreholes drilled by previous administration are not working also.

In his address, Onilagbedu of Lagbedu, Oba Amuda Akintoye praised Hon Oyedokun for his promptness to the needs and yearnings of the people. He said OOT has fondly called by his supporters has proved to be a man of the masses whose developmental projects had been felt positively in Ogbomoso South local government area despite being a caretaker chairman.

In attendance at the commissioning are, Director of Administration and General Services, Mrs Oludiran Rachel, Super for agriculture Hon Mobolade Zacheeus, Super for works Hon Olayiwola Emiola, Super for health Hon Kehinde Oyebunmi, Super for education Hon Lara Adebayo.

Also PDP party chairman Ogbomoso South local government, Apostle Moses Olamoyegun, Hon Tiamiyu Jimoh, Hon Mrs Saka Fausat, Com Remi Adejire among others.
