Ogbomoso South residents get free Eye screening (photos)

Ogbomoso South Chairman, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy has conducted free eye screening for indigent residents which cut across all communities in the local government.

The service was rendered in conjunction with Oyo state government in a bid to reduce all sort of eye problems to the barest minimal if not total eradication.

Mouthpiece NGR reports that the screening which witnessed massive turnout of about 250 residents had both genders and different categories of age across 10 wards of the local government as beneficiaries.

The category of eye problems examined vary from one person to another depending on the conditions; the old got high percentage of patients present for the screening.

Cataracts, Glaucoma, Keratoconus, dryy eyes and presbyopia which are common age-related eye diseases were the problems examined. Some with severe myopic eye were given free recommended glasses.

Speaking with one of the beneficiaries, Mr Alao Sunday expressed his joy and happiness towards the costless-yet-significant initiative for those battling with one eye disease or the other.

“I am delighted to be part of the beneficiaries and I appreciate the Chairman for putting up this initiative. Screening/treatment of eye problems is costly and could only be afforded by few. With this, it gets to as much people as possible, especially the old age. Many thanks to OOT.”- He said.

In his words, the Supervisor for Health Ogbomoso South LG, Hon. Kehinde Oyebunmi JP, appreciated OOT-led administration for making it possible to conduct this screening exercise.

He noted that he was the number one beneficiary and more than 200 provisions were made for Ogbomoso South local government to ease the process.

“I feel so elated that people turnout for this exercise and I also benefitted from it. As you can see more than 200 patients have been attended to, mostly aged people.

“I thank my chairman who make this possible. He has been such a great leader since the inception of his administration”- He concluded.
