Encomium as Makinde addresses LAUTECH teaching hospital challenges

Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has reiterated his resolve to reposition LAUTECH teaching hospital, Ogbomoso for optimal productivity.

Addressing the staff after inspecting facilities at the hospital, the Governor harped on the need to return joy and confidence to the Doctors and other staff members. 

Recall Mouthpiece NGR had reported that the Governor visited the hospital on Wednesday to meet with staff threatening to embark on industrial action.

Discussing the challenges faced by the institution, Governor Makinde conveyed approval on a number of these issues: 

  1. Payment of 2014 corrected CONMESS
  2. Payment of Covid-19 hazard allowance
  3. Increased subvention to cover payment of minimum wage, payment of 2016/2017 areas as well as the payment of the salaries of 177 members of staff who were recalled. 

The Governor promised that the payment will be made by end of this month. 

Makinde also assured that a team will screen the 46 staff members who were disengaged from next Monday and if the screening is successful, they will be reinstated.

Among other issues with approval include— Implementaion of a pilot study for Semi autonomy for selected secondary health care facilities.

Implementation of residency training and placement of doctors who have completed their residency training from 2021. 

Makinde noted that most of these issues were inherited from the previous administration. 

“We are coming to resolving them while at the same time ensuring that the good people of Oyo state reap all the benefits of good governance,” he said.
