Anxiety heightens as several report of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ibadan continue to jump up.

Mouthpiece NGR gathered that another 8workers have been tested positive for Coronavirus in same company Governor Makinde had declared on Friday night with 30 confirmed cases in Ibadan, the state capital.

This was made know by Governor Seyi Makinde and the chairman of the Covid-19 task force in a tweet on Monday morning.

He said: “Also, the COVID-19 confirmation tests for eleven suspected cases came back POSITIVE.

“Eight of these cases are from the same organisation in Ibadan South West Local Government Area referred to in the update of May 16, 2020.

“One case is from Oluyole Local Government Area.”

Though the governor had announced the closure of the company. But Residents are still asking Makinde to declare the identity of the company.

However, the governor failed to mention the name of the company which is located in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of the state.

The people of the state are now living in fear as anxiety continue to mount over the non-disclosure of the company.

Recall that Governor Makinde had via his twitter handle on Friday night assured residents of Oyo State to remain calm as adequate measures are being put in place to ensure public safety.

“We are to further reassure the people of Oyo State that there is no need for panic on this matter as all arms of the Task Force are at high alert to ensure that the situation remains under control,” the statement further read.

It also quoted Governor Makinde as saying that the state government will continue to bear the cost of COVID-19 tests in the state in order to minimize the risk of infection of health care workers, those whose assignments require personal contact with potential cases.

Mouthpiece NGR confirmed that the reported cases on Friday night is the highest the state has recorded in a single day.

It was learnt that over 100 others have been tested and awaiting results today in line with the protocol already established by the Virology Laboratory of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan,”.

Speaking with Mouthpiece NGR, a resident who was not happy about Makinde’s handling of the Covid-19 situation said, “ I’m just not at home with Oyo Government’s decision to continue maintaining anonymity for the said company.”

“For crying out loud, there are hundreds of companies and factories in Ibadan S/W LG, with about four or five heavy industries with large traffic.”

“By continuing to keep the said company’s name under wraps, govt is only fuelling rumours and innuendos, which is totally unhelpful during emergencies.”

He asked the Governor to mention the company, and let those who’ve had dealings with them in the last 14days or thereabouts proceed promptly to self isolation.

“We cannot prioritize populism over public health, he added.
