LG Crisis: Makinde in Out of court settlement with sacked chairmen

Oyo State Government has proposed out of court settlement on a case it instituted against the embattled local government chairmen, Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in the state to prevent the chairmen from returning to office.
Counsel to the state Government, Dr. Akin Onigbinde made this known while moving the application on the proposal.
Dr. Onigbinde urged the court to give parties in the matter the opportunity to settle the case  amicably for  the sake of  peace in the state.
He said the arrangement would favor all parties in the case, promising that every party would be given opportunity to express their mind to ensure peace in the state local government.
He told the court that the parties would come back to court if the process failed.
However, Counsel to Defendant, Chief Niyi Akintola expressed distrust on the state government describing the proposal as delay tactic to prolong the matter.
Another Counsel to Defendant, Mr. Kunle Sobaloju Observed that except pending cases on the dissolution of local government were resolved, such settlement might not work.
The Counsel therefore requested short adjourned date for the case.
Responding to various arguments, the Presiding Judge, Justice Moshood Abass urged stakeholders in the matter to take progress of the state as a priority.
Justice Abass who commended the maturity of the counsel in the case promised that justice would be done in the matter.
Justice Abass adjourned the case till February 12 for the parties to bring report on the settlement or to commence hearing on the case.
