Breaking: Buhari Appoints New Assistant Ahead Of Election
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub as his senior special assistant on National Assembly (House of Representatives).
El-Yakubu’s appointment followed the resignation of Kawu Sumaila from the position.
It was gathered that Sumaila resigned to contest for House of Reps seat in the forthcoming election
Daily Trust reports that the appointment, according to a statement by the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, followed the resignation of Kawu Sumaila as the senior special assistant to the president on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives.
Kawu who was appointed as SSA in August 2015, had resigned to contest for the Sumaila/Takai federal constituency seat in Kano state under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kawau was a member of the House of Representatives in 1998 and 2003-2007, representing Kano Municipal federal constituency.
It should be recalled that Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Nigeria’s minister of state for foreign affairs also resigned her appointment to run for elective positions in the 2019 general elections.
Abba Ibrahim would be running for Damaturu/Tarmuwa/Gujba/Gulani federal constituency of Yobe state in the National Assembly.
